What is Leather?

Leather, a flexible and durable material that created by tanning the animal skin or rawhide. Leather being used for several proposes such as furniture covering, bookbinding, and most of all for personal leather wares such as shoes, bags, wallets, belts and other leather accessories. Leather is just too attractive with a wide varieties and styles.

Tanning is a process to transform hides and skins into LEATHER. There are mainly 2 types of tanning processes which are vegetable tanning and Chrome tanning.

Vegetable tanned leather is an very old and traditional leather tanning process. The ingredients used are usually tree bark, wood, leaves, roots or other similar sources. This process taking much longer than chrome tanning, and the products are unique. Only 10% of leather is vegetable tanned leather, making it more precious and valuable. Vegetable tanned leather is the only kind of leather that can be used in leather carving or leather stamping, making it most suitable leather for leather crafting and handmade leather wares. Chrome tanned leather, which 90% leather in the market is chrome tanned leather. Chrome tanning is first used in 1858 using chemical. Chrome leather comes with more colors. Chrome tanning takes only one day to finish making it a very popular method.
